Charisma Bootcamp 2012
I created the original Charisma Bootcamp website back in 2010. The actual bootcamp was a great success so Owen Fitzpatrick is again running it and has grown the event from 8 speakers to 12 speakers. This new site design was probably one of the most challenging but also really fun & rewarding to work on. The relationship I have built with Owen over the last few years allows us to be honest with each other and put the project first always. We would come up with ideas and totally change them after discussing our reasoning and the brand.
A New Look
Owen wanted the new design for the website to be fun and creative and really showcase the speakers and make it very to find information about the event and be able to book tickets in seconds.
The Approach
The original logo I created dictated some of the style of the site. I also discussed the personality of the site in great detail with Owen. Once we knew the personality that helped Owen with the language to be used for the content and helped me with the design elements.
Unique
The mains colors for the site and the brand are black, gold & a deep red. The fonts are strong and solid to give the confidence that the brand inspires. When you go to individual pages on the site the color scheme changes which makes each page very unique and they stand out in their own right. Sometimes websites have a great home page then forget to put any real effort into the other pages on the site. With Charisma.ie every pages gets the same care & attention as we both understood the impotent of each page to the visitor.
The speakers page was a very important and lengthy page. Their had to be a brief bio on each of the 12 speakers. I hid all the bios and to view them you simply click on the image of the speaker and then there bio appears. This means people can view all speakers very quickly and find information on the person they want to without having to scroll through a really long page.
Tickets
The ticketing system for the site uses Eventbrite which handles the number of tickets, payment processing, emailing attendees their tickets. The same system is used to process tickets for The Dublin Web Summit website.
Every page has Book Now buttons at the top and bottom of the page so they are never far away. Most pages also feature a special promotional box to show why you should attend the event.
I also created promotional postcards and popup stands for the event.
